2024 ACT and NT award recipients announced

The recipients of the Geospatial Council of Australia’s (GCA) 2024 Geospatial Excellence Award winners for the ACT and the Northern Territory were announced during the GCA’s ACT Conference in Canberra on Thursday, 21 November.

The recipients are as follows:

NT Geospatial Excellence Awards

  • Community Impact Award: Aerometrex, Anindilyakwa Land Council, Geoscience Australia, The Australian National University, and the Cooperative Research Centre for Developing Northern Australia (CRCNA), for Integrating Indigenous priorities in spatially enabled planning of the Indigenous estate.

ACT Geospatial Excellence Awards

  • Environment & Sustainability Award: Geoscience Australia, CSIRO, Australian Climate Service, and the Emergency Management Spatial Information Network Australia (EMSINA), for National Bushfire Boundaries Data Services.
  • Community Impact Award: Geoscape Australia and the Resilient Building Council, for Location Intelligence for Bushfire Resilience.
  • Innovation Award (Medium to Large Business): Geoscience Australia, Australian Bureau of Statistics, Esri Australia, Onneer and Nova Systems, for the Digital Atlas of Australia.
  • Technical Excellence Award: Geoscience Australia, for Position Verification at Geoscience Australia.
  • Professional of the Year Award: Megan McCabe
  • Diversity & Inclusion Award: Aurora Foo

This brings to a close the Australian regional awards calendar, with all of the state and territory recipients now eligible for the prestigious Oceanic awards, the presentation for which will be held during the Locate25 conference in Brisbane in April 2025.
