whereNSW Camp to help develop the NSW Location Intelligence Strategy

By on 19 April, 2011

The NSW Government is developing a high-level, whole-of-government strategy to plan and manage spatial information, infrastructure and services across NSW.

The CS2i Program Office is charged with creating this strategy.

The strategy, known as the NSW Location Strategy, will supersede the Common Spatial Information Initiative (CS2i) Action Plan, developed in 2006 by the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information.

The updated Strategy and Implementation Plan aims to help NSW to build on achievements made thus far, address areas where progress has not yet been made, and adapt to new trends and technologies in a rapidly changing spatial information environment.

In order to best create this new strategy, the team at CS2i is encouraging participation and consultation through a range of channels, including the whereNSW Camp.

The camp will be an informal ‘barcamp’-style event to enable more informal and dynamic input into the development of the NSW Location Intelligence Strategy.

The Camp, hosted by LPMA NSW, will be a hybrid event, featuring some short presentations at the beginning of the day to set the context, leading into unstructured participant-driven sessions and finishing with a summary of discussions.

The whereNSW Camp will run in Sydney on Saturday June 4, 2011, from 10:00am to 3:30pm. Registration is open at http://wherensw.eventbrite.com/

More information on the whereNSW initiative can be found at http://wherensw.net.au/
