SSSI has some exciting events on the horizon, including: the NSW Regional conference; Qld Spatial Excellence Awards; a smartphone maps and apps webinar; and the NSW foundational themes webinar.

 

Spatial Networking – Crossing the Great Divide NSW Regional Conference 2013

SSSI NSW will be holding a joint 2 day conference in November this year, with the Central Western Group of ISNSW, Southern Group of ISNSW and MSIA (Mapping Sciences Institute Australia). It is to be held on Friday 15th November to Saturday 16th November 2013 in Bathurst at the Rydges Mount Panorama.  There will be networking drinks and dinner held on Friday night.

Queensland Spatial Excellence Awards

An annual event presented by the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) and the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA), the QSEA are unique to the Queensland surveying and spatial industry.

As the only introduction into the Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA), the QSEA are widely recognised and participated in by public, private and academic sectors.

Clever Maps and Apps for a Smartphone Generation Webinar

The Clever Maps and Apps for a Smartphone Generation presentation was presented by Cassandra Barker from MapData Services at the recent SSSC 2013 in Canberra, ACT.  As it was a very popular topic, SSSI is running the presentation as a webinar with extended time for Q&A.

The webinar will cover the changes in the market place, technology evolution, and consumer demands, as well as covering the information that users need to be aware of when developing smart geo-applications.

The session will focus on cross-platform spatial application development using DaaS (Data as a Service).  The audience will learn about the variety of tools and techniques that can be used to deliver clever maps and apps for the smartphone generation across a variety of platforms,  including the MDS platform, Google platform, and the ArcGIS Online platform.

The webinar will run on Wednesday, 25th September 2013, from 1pm to 2pm AEDT (NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, QLD), 12:30 to 1:30pm ACST (SA, NT), 11 to 12pm AWST (WA).

Foundation Data Themes for NSW Webinar Update

This free webinar presentation will give participants an update on the Foundation Data Themes for NSW, and the NSW Location Intelligence Strategy Action Plan, presented by Wayne Patterson, Senior Project Manager, Location Policy & Coordination Unit Land & Property Information Division, Department of Finance & Services.
