Unmanned Aerial Systems Training Conference & Expo 2012

This event will focus on providing knowledge on aircraft, payloads and service options that are both currently available and planned to be available in the next few years.

This two and a half day event will showcase Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) relevant to Australian Fire Services, Police Services, Emergency Services, disaster managers and utilities (electricity, gas, water and telecommunications). It will focus on providing knowledge on aircraft, payloads and service options that are both currently available and planned to be available in the next few years.


The event will be held at V-TOL Aerospace Marburg Flight Operations Centre near RAAF Base Amberley, Queensland, which allows UAS demonstration for aircraft flying below 400ft. A number of UAS companies will be flying their aircraft, and you will be able to get hands-on experience of launching and controlling a number of them.


The training conference starts at 1:30 on 22 August 2012, and will run for 1.5 days. It will include formal presentations,practical training and workshops on:

  • UAS systems and technology
  • Training needs for UAS
  • Regulations (operational, development & maintenance)
  • Costs and benefits of manned verses remotely manned options
  • Case studies in Australian and overseas
  • Developing a road map on building UAS capability in an organisation
  • Pilot training
  • Integrating UAS capability into operational activities and planning

Small workshops will be held for most of the emergency services and utilities which discusses the potential of UAS and developing a road map for deployment. Attendees can also attend workshops run by exhibitors on 24 August 2012.

Associations and groups are invited to also use the conference facilities on 24 August 2012 to run closed meetings.
