Over 4 million Australians live in cities which are not major capitals. We have a Major Cities Unit and a Department of Regional Australia… it’s time to put mid-sized cities back on the policy map and take the lead in Australasia’s urban future.

The MidiCities Conference 2012 will run in Logan City, Queensland, on 11-12 July.

Nine great reasons to register:

  1. Exchange information and experiences, explore common issues and find ways to help MidiCities grasp opportunities and fulfil their potential.
  2. Gain insights from a range of government and community speakers including the Minister for Regional Australia Simon Crean and Senator Kate Lundy.
  3. Hear international keynote speaker Ken Cameron share his experiences in policy development and planning for one of the world’s most liveable cities: Vancouver.
  4. Interact with expert panellists in five key sessions: Economic Development; Connectivity; Environment/Sustainability; Social/Cultural Challenges and Opportunities; and Governance and Planning.
  5. Network with fellow civic leaders, policy makers, academics, economic development professionals and community leaders from around Australia.
  6. Enjoy drinks and a superb conference dinner at Queensland’s most renowned winery, Sirromet.
  7. Attend the FREE pre-conference workshop and welcome reception for registered conference delegates on 10 July.
  8. Access our online interactive MidiCities forum for registered delegates, speakers and panellists; post questions, articles and case studies, debate issues and share ideas before, during and after the conference.
  9. Combine your trip with some sightseeing – the host city Logan is just 30 minutes from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, and the beautiful Southern Moreton Bay Islands are also within easy reach.
