Trimble has announced its newest controller, which hits the market together with a new version of its field software, Access 2018.
Trimble’s newest field device features an ergonomic tablet form factor with a physical keyboard, a 7-inch sun-readable touchscreen and front and rear cameras. Under the bonnet is an Intel quad core x64 processor, and a Windows 10-based architecture, and an IP68-certified ruggedised exterior, keeping its internals safe from dust or water ingress.
Trimble appear to be heavily ramping up the usability of their field devices with the TSC7, porting over familiar features from consumer devices such as the touch screen and cameras for video conferencing from the field, and investing heavily in the engineering of the TSC7’s ergonomics. The latest version of Trimble’s Access software features a new user interface, completely redesigned for the new form factor and input devices of the TSC7, with preset workflows for general survey, tunnels and pipelines and roading applications. The new release of Access also integrates with Trimble’s cloud solution Sync Manager, allowing surveyors to download preconfigured jobs in the field, with CSV and DXF files already linked.
In addition to the new controller and software overhaul, Trimble has simultaneously released two new rover systems, the Siteworks Positioning System, available in two distinct feature sets tailored to surveyors and supervisors respectively. Both systems include the SPS986 GNSS Smart Antenna and Siteworks software, but the surveyors’ system includes the TSC7 controller, while the supervisors’ package swaps this out for the T10 tablet.
Trimble’s new solutions based around the TSC7 and updated Access architecture will be available worldwide in May through Trimble’s distributors.
