Skyline Software has announced the formal release of version 6.0 of its TerraExplorer 3D visualisation tool for desktop, web-integrated, and custom OEM environments.
This release of TerraExplorer v6.0 has brought many of the features that were only available in the TerraExplorer Pro level products to the lower cost TerraExplorer Plus and free TerraExplorer Viewer products.
TerraExplorer Plus now has about 80% of the capability of TerraExplorer Pro, while TerraExplorer Viewer now provides line of sight, viewshed, shadow analysis, flood analysis, terrain analysis, and more, in addition to a presentation tool and other digitising functions.
Version 6 is a major update with many new features, including:
- Improved handling of streamed 3D models, complex LIDAR models and high resolution elevation layers
- Reduced memory signature for loaded feature layers
- Accelerated feature layer loading
- Support for Skyline’s new, optimised terrain model format
- New supported formats including MapInfo file, PostgreSQL, Microstation DGN, WFS-T v1.1.1, Autodesk DXF
- Enhanced KML and Sketchup model support including KML export,
- Improved feature layer loading and display (GIS layer and complex objects)
- Create, attribute and save feature layers
- Expanded GIS capabilities including spatial and attribute queries,
- Updated and enhanced API -Improved analysis tools including new flood, slope and volumetric analysis
- New realistic visualisation features including atmospheric and water effects
- Improved interior navigation with collision detection
- New presentation tool for simplifying the creation and sharing of dynamic presentations
- Introduction of the TerraCatalog feature to store, organize and manage connections to spatial databases, layers and projects
- Localization tools simplifies the translation of all text and graphics into foreign languages
- Completely revised User Interface (UI) including Windows layout options
TerraExplorer is the first product to receive the v6 update, with TerraBuilder, TerraGate, and Skyline Globe Web Package v6 releases coming soon.
