20 June 2014: Q-2014-011; Auburn Residential Development Strategy. Auburn Council.

Auburn City Council is seeking Consultancy Services to prepare a Residential Development Strategy to provide a comprehensive long term strategy to meet the housing needs for the Auburn LGA over the next 20 years. The strategy will form part of Council’s review of the Auburn LEP 2010. The strategy will review the existing planning controls that apply to the LGA to determine the dwelling capacity they provide for. It will then forecast population growth and the associated housing demand, in both dwelling numbers and housing choice, throughout the LGA over the short, medium and long term.

Significant community consultation will be undertaken during the preparation of the strategy to ensure that it aligns with the expectations and needs of Auburn community. Council staff will undertake consultation with relevant Government agencies. Feasibility testing will also be undertaken on any proposed controls to ensure that the envisaged housing outcomes are achievable.

The study will be used to communicate to government agencies, developers and the community where Council intends to increase development potential, and where existing character will be maintained. It will be the guiding policy for residential land use planning in Auburn LGA, and will also influence decisions relating to infrastructure, community facilities, parks and schools.

20 June 2014: Q-2013-046; Auburn Employment Lands Study (industrial and business zones). Auburn Council.

Auburn City Council is seeking Consultants to undertake the above study to update Council’s policy on employment uses within the industrial and business zones within the

Auburn LEP 2010. It is a forward-thinking strategy which seeks to provide jobs in line with population growth in Auburn LGA over the next 20 years. The study will bring together and update Council’s policy framework regarding retail, commercial and industrial uses. It will communicate to the community, industry and developers where Council wishes to protect industrial land, and where retail and commercial activity should be concentrated.

The study will also investigate the appropriateness of existing controls, with a view to making improvements where possible. Council’s existing policy framework regarding employment lands is primarily contained within the

Auburn Employment Lands Study 2008 and the Auburn Town Centre Retail and Economic Study 2007 (which applies to Auburn centre only).

Due to increasing pressure to rezone employment lands, and recent changes to State and local government planning frameworks, Auburn City Council now seeks to review the studies to update them to meet the needs of planning for employment lands into the future.
