The SSSC 2013 conference aims to focus on all five of the commissions’ interests – covering technological advances, new uses via interesting case studies as well as those future innovations still in the lab. Some highlights for Land Surveying include:

Land Surveyors will investigate legal ramifications of GPS & GNSS measurements, and the best assessments & testing methods. Chris Rizos will look at the impact of modernisation of Global Geodesy; and the Next Generation Datum impact on Spatial is introduced in this stream by Richard Stanaway (UNSW) and by Rachelle Winefield (Land Information NZ).

Also for surveyors, the ePlan Forum will provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with software vendors who are providing solutions for the ePlan, as well as concepts and detailed information on the ePlan general process.

Of interest to all will be the Next Generation Datum Panel, which will analyse reforms required in infrastructure and data sets to provide centimetre quality results.

The annual Scrivener’s Breakfast will this year be held as part of the conference, on Thursday 18 April, and will feature the familiar billy tea and barbecue breakfast and the annual story contest – can you tell the tallest story?

These are just a small selection of the topics on offer at the conference; a full overview is available on the SSSC 2013 website.

The SSSC 2013 conference will run from 15-19 April at National Convention Centre in Canberra. For more information and registration, visit www.sssc2013.org.
