Simple inertial navigation module released

OxTS Core2

OxTS is launching a simple inertial system. Designed to be used in conjunction with other positioning systems, the xOEMcore is said to improve system performance. When combined with an indoor WiFi positioning system, OxTS says users can achieve better performance, no dropouts, faster update rates and no jumps.

At the heart of the xOEMcore is a MEMS-based inertial measurement unit that offers low-error growth. Mathematics for integrating the inertial measurements is included, together with sensor fusion algorithms for minimising inertial drift. The sensor fusion includes GNSS processing, wheel speed odometer, car models and zero velocity updates so that a complete system can be built without needing detailed knowledge of navigation systems. Heading, pitch and roll are accurate to 0.05° and position better than 2cm using GNSS. OxTS will be adding interfaces for other sensors too, and some ‘generic’ updates that can be used by any positioning system.
