Digital Earth Australia has made several of its datasets available on Google Earth Engine as part of a new trial.
The trial will enable users to combine Digital Earth Australia (DEA) data with other datasets already available on Google Earth Engine (GEE) with the aim of enabling novel ways to build new information products.
The DEA datasets include:
- Geometric Median and Median Absolute Deviation (GeoMAD)
- National Intertidal Digital Elevation Model 25m
- Water observations statistics
- Land cover
The datasets are ready for use right now, with their availability to be re-assessed in June 2024.
Launched in 2017, GEE is an online platform for the analysis and visualisation of datasets. It is widely used across the academic and research sectors, as well as the governmental and private sectors.
DEA is encouraging users and potential users to explore the DEA datasets on GEE, and in particular to assess how they perform in an environment different to DEA’s own Sandbox. DEA would also like to receive feedback, suggestions and questions, which can be directed to earth.observation@ga.gov.au.
