Well, it’s been another long year of disruption and interruption thanks to the COVID pandemic and the unavoidable restrictions that have had to be put in place.

While many people have suffered sorely in terms of health, employment, financially and in many other ways, we’re thankful that Australia has escaped the greater tragedies and heartbreaks that other countries have suffered.

While all of this has been happening, life has gone on as best as it could, and it must be said that the surveying, space and spatial sectors have rolled with the punches and endeavoured to maintain as much of ‘business as normal’ as possible. And indeed there have been many positive developments throughout 2021, such as, for instance, the rapid acceleration of activity in Australia’s space industries.

We’re looking forward to a return to normal as soon as possible in 2022, and we’re sure you are too. And so as we say goodbye to 2021, Position magazine and Spatial Source would like to thank all of our editorial contributors, our advertisers and especially you, the reader, for all the support you’ve given us during the year.

Spatial Source will be taking a break now until Wednesday, 12 January, when we’ll be back to continue keeping you up to date with all the latest news and developments in surveying, space and spatial. In the meantime, we’ll be bringing you a selection of some of the best articles we’ve published during the year, in case you might have missed them.

We wish you a safe and merry festive season, and a safe, happy and prosperous New Year.
