Momentum is building for the full changeover to the new Queensland Spatial Cadastral Fabric.

The state is in the final stages of a phased rollout from the legacy Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB) to the new Queensland Spatial Cadastral Fabric (QSCF).

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development, the QSCF “captures bearing and distance, reference marks, including coordinates when available, unlike the legacy system which stores just the linework and limited attributes”.

“The additional captured data is used to perform least squares adjustments,” the Department says. “It assists to store and utilise survey accurate data, modernise our legacy systems, and potentially unlock future capabilities that comes from capturing a range of information available on a survey plan.”

The effort is part of Queensland’s Cadastre and Address Modernisation (CAM) Project to transform the process and systems used to manage and maintain spatial cadastre and location addressing data.

Staggered start

In an April update, the CAM team says that work has been underway in 2026 “to bring everything to a state of readiness for the transition from DCDB to QSCF”.

The team has been gathering feedback and suggestions since a beta of the whole-of-state download was made available in September 2025, with corresponding adjustments and improvements having been made.

Beginning on 13 April and running through until 27 April, a staggered halt to DCDB updates is being made on an area-by-area basis. In parallel, from 18 April there is underway a staggered start to QSCF updates.

The update notice says that the “DCDB will remain available for reference until 2027 to support users during the transition period,” adding that the “QSCF is expected to be fully operational by Monday 27 April 2026, with services and downloads available by or shortly after that time”.

More detailed information for users is included in the April CAM update.
