Spatial specialists and surveyors in Queensland are being reminded of lodgement processes and advised about an upcoming datum transformation.

The latest official Lands survey alert from Queensland sets out advice for plan lodgements with Titles Queensland.

The alert reminds surveyors that, in order to avoid delays in registration, when an original survey plan in paper form or as an eLodgement compliant image file is submitted it should include instructions that the plan is to be lodged only through the appropriate paper channel or eLodgement channel.

According to the alert, “It has been reported that images of survey plans that are prepared for eLodgement or PDF copies of those plans, are being printed and lodged as paper plans.  These plans are often not to scale or are printed in A4 sized paper, resulting in non-compliance with Directions 3.1 or 3.2.”

Datum transformation

On a separate matter, the Queensland Government’s Spatial Information team has advised that changes will be implemented to the datum transformations used within Spatial Platform web services.

The changes will align Spatial Information’s web services with an updated projection engine in ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Pro, which will result in improved positional accuracy of data delivered via WGS84 services.

The update will take place between 5:00pm on Friday, 23 October and finish by 8:00am  on Monday, 26 October.  

During the update process, the following effects will be felt:

• All map services will experience rolling disruptions as they are republished;
• Imagery services will experience longer disruptions while underlying mosaic datasets and caches are updated; and
• Applications consuming these services may experience temporary loss of access to services during the change window.
