The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) has announced a partnership with the Open Geospatial Consortium.
The OGC is an international non-profit standards organisation dedicated to promoting the interoperability of IT systems for processing geo-referenced information, and the SSSI is Australia’s peak body for surveying and spatial science professionals.
An MoU formalising the partnership was signed by Dr. Nadine Alameh, CEO of OGC, and Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse FRGS FSSSI, President of SSSI, in New York on August 7, 2019.
Dr. Mohamed-Ghouse said that SSSI members stood to benefit from the new union.
“SSSI looks forward to working with OGC. I am sure SSSI members will benefit from this collaboration agreement, especially understanding and applying standards in their respective professional practice,” he said.
Dr. Alameh of the OGC welcomed SSSI members to the OGC community.
“I am excited to start this collaboration with SSSI as we continue to connect people, communities, technologies and decision making with a foundation of geospatial standards in support of the surveying and spatial community in Australia,” he said.
Mr Mark Reichardt, Former President and CEO of OGC and Mr Simon Callaghan, Director of the Australian Trade Commission, USA, and former SSSI Board Member witnessed the signing.
