New versions of POS AV and POSTrack systems released

By on 27 March, 2012

Applanix recently introduced its latest generation of GNSS-inertial and flight management systems (FMS) for airborne mapping—the POS AV V6 and POSTrack V6.

POS AV is a hardware and software system specifically designed for directly georeferencing airborne sensor data. POSTrack consists of the POS AV system with a tightly integrated advanced FMS, which provides mission planning, pilot guidance and sensor control.

Specifically designed to allow organisations to complete airborne mapping projects faster, more accurately and cost-effectively, these systems offer new computer and GNSS hardware, and are more compact, rugged and powerful than ever before.

The announcement was made at the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Annual Conference 2012, the world's largest tradeshow for the photogrammetry and remote sensing industry.

With an approximate 50 percent reduction in size and weight, versus the current products, the new systems are much easier to handle, install and fly in virtually any application. The system also features a new ruggedised, fanless housing design complete with sealed, removable USB data stick logging.

The POS AV and POSTrack V6 systems also offer a new 220 channel multi-frequency GNSS receiver based on Trimble’s Maxwell 6 Custom GNSS survey technology. Featuring very low-noise survey-grade GNSS carrier phase measurements, the receiver is capable of tracking GPS L1/L2/L5, GLONASS L1/L2 and Galileo. The system also supports optional OmniSTAR VBS, XP, HP and G2 corrections for improved real-time performance.

“Our commitment is to provide Applanix’ customers with the very best technology for completing their airborne mapping projects faster, more accurately and at a lower cost,” said Joe Hutton, Director of Airborne Products at Applanix. “Version 6 of POS AV and POSTrack further these goals by providing the latest in computer and GNSS receiver technology.”

The POS AV V6 and POSTrack V6 can be purchased through the Applanix global sales network. For more information, please visit www.applanix.com.
