Position Partners have partnered with Australian drone startup Propeller Aero to offer an end-to-end Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) bundle to deliver survey-grade results in one integrated workflow. The bundle is designed specifically for surveying purposes by combining professional RPAS aircraft, ground control points and processing software.

More specifically, the package includes professional-grade RPAS from leading global manufacturer DJI, Propeller Aero’s cloud-based drone data platform, and the recently unveiled AeroPoints ground control system, also developed by Propeller Aero.

Together, the products offer centimetre-level accuracy and a user-friendly workflow that just about anybody can implement, and is offered exclusively in Australasia by Position Partners.

Customers can choose from either the popular, sub-two kilogram Phantom 4 aircraft or the new M100 high performance quadcopter, which offers longer flight times, advanced collision avoidance and enhanced in-flight stability.

Rory San Miguel, Propeller Aero’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO commented on the new partnership, saying RPAS surveys will become more affordable and accessible as a result.

“It is great to bring our advanced cloud software and new AeroPoints system to market via a collaboration with a leading RPAS solutions provider such as Position Partners,” he said. “We’re excited to make survey-grade accuracy both affordable and accessible through this bundle.”

What makes the bundles survey-grade, said Position Partners National RPAS Manager Gavin Docherty, is the new AeroPoint active ground control system: “AeroPoints are the only ground control points in the world that deliver absolute MGA (Map Grid of Australia) coordinates, with built-in GNSS, PPK, WiFi and solar panel technology,” he said.

“We are delighted to offer these comprehensive and unique RPAS bundles, which make getting survey grade accuracy with aerial mapping technology a simple and reliable process, from as little as $18,000,”

“Previous ground control systems worked off a ‘near-enough, good-enough’ basis, which simply doesn’t cut it for survey applications,” Mr Docherty added. “With AeroPoints there are no more spray paint marked points and no need to use a survey rover. You simply set them down, press a button, and fly the aircraft. You can then process, analyse and share incredibly accurate 3D surveys through Propeller’s online platform.”
