Western Australia’s largest privately and locally owned survey and spatial information company McMullen Nolan Group Pty Ltd (MNG) recently announced its appointment of Aspen Group Ltd senior executive Brendan Acott as a non-executive board member.

Mr Acott joins MNG’s board following an esteemed career in finance, investment management and property that spans more than two decades. Commencing with Westpac in 1990, he spent eight years crafting his finance skills across the bank’s personal, business, and corporate finance sectors before joining Police and Nurses Credit Society (PNCS) to manage their corporate deposit portfolio and help launch its property and land development arm.

His PNCS property experience paved the way for him to branch out and launch a boutique land development syndication business, from which Mr Acott gained valuable experience sitting on a number of unlisted syndicate boards as an executive director, developing almost 1,000 residential lots in the Perth metropolitan area between 2002 and 2004 before joining ASX listed Aspen Group Ltd in February 2005.

During his time at Aspen as a senior executive, Mr Acott has gathered extensive corporate governance and board experience through his direct exposure to the Aspen Group Board as well as his role as an Executive Director on a number of syndicate boards managed by Aspen.

Having recently completed a two-year term on the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) Planning Committee, Mr Acott said that he was delighted to be joining the board of MNG following his extensive working relationship with the company.

“MNG is one of Western Australia’s leading providers of land survey and spatial information services, and has been a preferred supplier to entities I have been associated with for well over a decade,” Mr Acott said.

“With 2014 being MNG’s 25th anniversary year, it is an exciting time to be joining the company and being able to contribute at board level as the company looks to further grow its land development, resources, infrastructure, geospatial, and sub-surface investigation divisions, while also enhancing its regional WA, interstate and international presence.”

MNG’s non-executive chairman John McMullen said Mr. Acott’s wealth of financial management and land development industry experience would benefit the company at board and strategic planning levels.

“Brendan has a comprehensive understanding of land development processes and requirements from a developer’s perspective, so his insights and industry knowledge will complement and strengthen McMullen Nolan Group’s industry leading Land Development division,” Mr McMullen said.

Mr Acott joins existing MNG board members Scott Anderson (managing director/chief executive officer), Stuart Torode (director of land development), Mark Mariotti (director of resources & infrastructure), Steve Maughan (director of shared services), John McMullen (non-executive chairman), Gerry Nolan (non-executive director) and Mike Best (non-executive director) to help shape the company’s future direction.
