Earth imaging specialists Maxar Technologies will collaborate with the Australian Space Agency on areas of strategic interest including Earth observation, space infrastructure capabilities and education initiatives.
The entities Digital Globe, SSL and Radiant Solutions were consolidated under the parent Maxar brand in February.
The joint statement of strategic intent and cooperation was signed on October 22, and seeks to find areas of mutual strategic interest to pool resources and cooperate on.
A statement released by Maxar suggests that areas of interest include space robotics, ground station infrastructure for servicing large constellations, optical and communications satellites.
Opportunities for Australian education and training initiatives, artificial intelligence and maritime surveillance are also identified as streams of possible collaboration.
“Maxar is honored to support the Australian Space Agency as it seeks to expand the nation’s role in the international civil space community, and we look forward to contributing technology and expertise from our 65-year heritage in space to projects and programs that enable them to achieve this goal,” said Dan Jablonsky, Maxar CEO.
