The CSIRO’s Marine National Facility is seeking expressions of interest from early career marine scientists to join its Scientific Advisory Committee.

The Marine National Facility (MNF) is Australia’s only dedicated blue water research facility, operating the CSIRO’s survey and research vessel RV Investigator and presiding over an archive of marine data spanning 30 years.

The MNF has put out a call for early career marine scientists to join the Scientific Advisory Committee, which advises the MNF’s steering committee on assessment of research proposals for MNF-granted voyages, among other responsibilities related to research and scientific operations.

Specifically, candidates will advise the committee on the scientific and/or technical excellence of potential granted projects, and the ability of investigators to successfully undertake proposed projects.

The SAC positions are on a volunteer basis, though expenses associated with meeting attendance will be reimbursed.

Candidates should have a PhD conferral date ≤ 10 years, though the position is not restricted solely to postdoctoral candidates.
