Locate15: SIBA Breakfast with Qld Chief Scientist

The SIBA breakfast series commences in Brisbane with a breakfast during Locate15 with Dr Geoff Garrett, the Queensland Chief Scientist.

This breakfast will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Wednesday 11 March from 7:00am-8:30am and is kindly sponsored by SIBA member Airbus Defence and Space.

Dr Garrett is well known to many SIBA members and has attended a number of SIBA events over the past year. In addition to an inspirational talk by Dr Garrett, a special presentation outlining the new space imaging technologies will be given at this breakfast by James Prior, managing director of Airbus Defence & Space Geo Australia.

The Queensland Chief Scientist provides leadership in science policy development and implementation supported by the department and provides high level, strategic advice to the Queensland Government on the role of science, research and innovation in meeting Queensland’s economic .

Geoff Garrett was appointed Chief Scientist to the State Government of Queensland in January 2011. In this role he is accountable for science policy, providing strategic guidance across a range of government departments, and has also been involved with or led a number of reviews and enquiries, covering the science of floods, uranium mining, bat derived horse viruses, underground coal gasification, and innovation in government.
