ISDE7 joins WALIS down under

By on 24 May, 2011

The 2011 WALIS Forum will join the 7th International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE7) to create a unique spatial information conference in Perth, 23-25 August.

Digital earth modellers and spatial science communities will be joined by those in conservation and sustainable management, with the State Natural Resource Management conference also on board. These industries will come together for the first time in Western Australia to network, share learnings, and plan for the future.

An exciting and dynamic program for the conference, with some special touches to celebrate the 30th birthday of WALIS, is promised by WALIS director Marnie Leybourne.

“The last three WALIS Forums have reached out to the international community. Now we have a partnership with an international conference being held in the Southern Hemisphere for the first time,” says Leybourne.

“There are fantastic opportunities for delegates to network with international partners and be exposed to the latest technology developments. An expanded exhibition area from previous WALIS Forums will provide a further resource for attendees.”

Jack Dangermond will lead a stellar line up of keynote speakers, including the president of OpenGeo, Chris Holmes, director of projects and development at CyArk, Elizabeth Lee and British Geological Survey’s Ian Jackson. Many other international speakers will also be presenting.

Other organisations at ISDE7 include:
  • Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI), presenting its R&D projects within the program and convening an industry workshop.
  • The Australia, Brazil, Canada and China consortium, an initiative aimed at earth observation for global change, will present its research projects and programs.

Register for the event today at www.isde7.net/registration – early bird closes at the end of May. For more information visit www.isde7.net
