Seven News, Yahoo!7 and Esri Australia have partnered to develop an interactive 2013 Federal Election Map, which features real-time coverage of Twitter trends and access to in-depth analysis of every federal electorate in Australia.

The interactive application maps and analyses a comprehensive collection of information about each electorate, across five key topics including: employment and education; infrastructure; ancestry; financial positioning; and electorate demographics.

The map allows users to navigate directly to their own electorate, any that they are interested in, or by selecting a sitting member. The boundaries of the electorate are shown on screen, while a rotating list of statistics for that electorate are displayed below.

As well as featuring geo-located Tweets of election-related topics, the map also has a ‘5 in Focus’ tool, which calculates the five highest and lowest ranked electorates according to a variety of criteria.

The story behind the Election Map will be revealed at Ozri 2013, running this week from 4-6 September in Brisbane, Queensland. Registrations are still open, so don’t miss out.

You can learn more about the map on Esri Australia’s website. Or visit the map directly at Yahoo!7 news.
