The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) has announced that its 2023 Assembly will now take place at the Grimaldi Forum in the Principality of Monaco from 2 to 5 May 2023.

According to the IHO, uncertainties regarding the availability of the traditional venue — the Rainier III Auditorium, which is currently being used for the Monaco Covid Centre — prompted the IHO Secretariat to look for alternatives.

The Grimaldi Forum is a highly suitable alternative choice, but the only availability around the originally planned dates is for the period from 2 to 5 May 2023, which essentially means a deferral of the event by one week.

In a post on the IHO website, its Secretariat said that it “is aware of the inconvenience and difficulties this change may cause IHO Member States and all participants (International Organizations, National Institutions and Industry Stakeholders), but is convinced that this change of date and venue is the best arrangement for the proper conduct of the Assembly”.
