Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) has signed an agreement with location intelligence specialist Esri Australia for the implementation of an IT solution.
The project marks the first time in Australia that a jointly developed Esri and SAP software solution, which embeds Esri technology into core SAP business processes, has been rolled out – without requiring customisation.
The new GISystem represents SAP data on a map, translating complex scenarios into a easy-to-digest visual format, enabling staff to quickly and clearly interpret large volumes of information.
Brett Bundock, managing director Esri Australia, said the GCCC’s inspired technology solution had set the benchmark for businesses and government agencies across the country.
“It’s an era of change for the Gold Coast – the city is expanding at an exponential rate and as its bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games gains momentum, this Australian-first technology partnership reflects their commitment to becoming future ready,” said Mr Bundock.
“The solution will deliver GCCC with significant tangible returns, including increased productivity, advanced business processes and streamlined operations, potentially saving Council millions of dollars.
“It’s a privilege to partner with the GCCC during this exciting time of change and progression.”
Dale Dickson, CEO of GCCC, said the system will assist in reducing costs for the Council, and deliver an agile geo-enablement of SAP.
“By providing a consolidated, single-point-of-truth to our data, our staff will be able to make better decisions,” said Mr Dickson.
“For example, when all the planned changes are fully implemented, work orders will be able to be assigned based on proximity to avoid unnecessary driving time for work crews.
“Operational personnel can share a common operating picture that reflects the real-time status of opportunities, problems and resources in the field.”
The solution will be delivered as part of an Esri Australia Enterprise Licence Agreement, which will provide unlimited access to Esri GIS licences and reduce overall IT costs over a number of years.
GCCC will initially use the technology to compliment their ERP (Enterprise Planning Resource System) processes – one of the first projects slated will improve planning for maintenance of government-owned assets, such as barbeques, traffic lights or parks.
Esri Australia has already partnered with councils neighbouring GCCC including: Brisbane City Council, Toowoomba Regional Council, Sunshine Coast Council and Moreton Bay Regional Council, to name a few.
