
Specialist geospatial STEM education provider, She Maps, has announced the finalists for the 2025 Geospatial in Schools Awards.
According to She Maps, the task of selecting the finalists for this year’s awards was made particularly difficult due to the “incredible pool of student and teacher nominees” .
“The calibre of nominations was exceptionally high this year and the choice was not an easy one,” the organisation said upon announcing the finalists.
The judges also noted several nominees who “stood out with their achievements,” and have acknowledged them by conferring ‘highly commended’ status for “their passion and commitment to geospatial teaching and learning and their contributions to the geospatial field”.
The finalists and highly commended individuals in the three award categories, are as follows:
Outstanding Geospatial Student Award, finalists:
- Mei Mei Boland, Wavell State High School
- Zoe Zhao, Ormiston College
- Abigail Greenland, Grace Lutheran College
Outstanding Geospatial Student Award, highly commended:
- Georgie Duff, Bray Park State High School
- Jinwoo Bang, Wavell State High School
- Evie Houston, Grace Lutheran College
- Bronte Misso, Grace Lutheran College
Emerging Geospatial Teacher Award, finalists:
- Madison Yung, Kedron State High School
- Dylan Brown, Grace Lutheran College
Emerging Geospatial Teacher Award, highly commended:
- Susannah Beake, Bray Park State High School
- Maclean Hanley, Wavell State High School
- Melanie Armstrong
- Scenic Shores State School

Innovative Geospatial Teacher Award, finalists:
- Brett Dascombe, Wavell State High School
- Kerrie-Ann Van Heez, Emeral State High School
- Terence Gallagher, Trinity College Gawler
Innovative Geospatial Teacher Award, highly commended:
- Shanie Nath, Elderslie High School
- Roslyn Minnikin, Ormiston College
- Arno Coetzee, Hillcrest Christian College

The award winners will be announced during a ceremony at the combined Locate25/FIG Working Week conference in Brisbane on 7 April.
