The Centre for SDIs and Land Administration at The University of Melbourne will host a collaborative event from the 5th – 7th of October, 2011. The event will focus on the theme “Beyond Spatial Enablement” and involve a number of collaborative workshops, in conjunction with the 4th UN sponsored Permanent Committee on GIS Infrastructure for Asia and the Pacific (PCGIAP) Land Administration Forum.
This event will discuss trends, strategies and a vision for a spatially enabled future, mapping, SDI and land administration strategies to facilitate spatially enabled government. It will also examine progress to date and consider worldwide challenges and new initiatives that the UN and member countries are implementing, to support spatially enabled government and society.
The objectives of the event are:
- To discuss mapping, spatial information, SDI and land administration strategies to facilitate spatially enabled government;
- To share land administration experiences in the Asia and Pacific region with a focus on delivering spatial enablement;
- To share land administration experiences in the Asia and Pacific with a focus on national land administration and 3D cadastre to support e-government;
- To discuss the role of land administration and mapping agencies in developing the vision for “beyond spatial enablement”.
The event is being coordinated through the PCGIAP Working Group on Spatially Enabled Government, and the Centre for SDIs and Land Administration (CSDILA), with Director of CSDILA and President of GSDI Association, Abbas Rajabifard and the PCGIAP Working Group Chair Greg Scott. The focus of the event was developed both by the PCGIAP, and CSDILA, along with the outcomes of the previous Land Administration Forums for Asia and the Pacific.
