Emlid Reach-RS2 RTK receiver reaches Australia

By on 3 April, 2019

Emlid’s Reach RS2 RTK GNSS receiver is now available in Australia, offering centimetre-precision and survey grade features at a fraction of the cost of some rivals.

Emlid’s new offering is a multi-band L1/L2/L5 RTK GNSS receiver, which according to the company ‘determines a fixed solution in seconds and provides positional accuracy down to several millimeters’.

The receiver tracks GPS/QZSS (L1, L2), GLONASS (L1, L2), BeiDou (B1, B2), Galileo (E1, E5) and SBAS (L1C/A), and reliably works in RTK mode on distances up to 60 kilometres and 100 kilometres in PPK mode. The Reach RS2 features multi-feed antenna with multipath rejection.

Whilst it does not feature tilt-correction, the price point of this capable unit may raise eyebrows. The Reach RS2 will be available for $3,400, including software and GST.

Alistair Hart, director of Queensland-based Mangoesmapping, which is exclusive distributor for Emlid in Australia, said that offerings such as this will have a marked effect on accessibility.

“Emlid have a quiet determination to change the face of the industry and democratise survey-accurate positioning, including well beyond the traditional survey industry. This is yet another indicator of disruption for the survey industry as it makes survey-accurate positioning more affordable and understandable,” he said.

The Reach RS2 will be on display at Locate19 from 8-10 April at the Melbourne Convention Centre.
