Consultation open on the Australian Statistical Geography Standard

The Australian Bureau of Statistics is calling for industry input on the the Australian Statistical Geography Standard ahead of the 2021 edition.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has announced that it has begun the process of reviewing the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS), which ‘provides a framework of statistical areas designed for the dissemination, visualisation and analysis of a broad range of social, demographic and economic statistics’.

Ahead of the release of the 2021 standard, the ABS seeks input on specific areas of the existing standard, including: including Urban Centres and Localities, ASGS State and Commonwealth Electoral Divisions, ASGS Natural Resource Management Regions and Australian Drainage Divisions, the ASGS coding structure and ASGS boundaries.

Feedback is sought through an online survey, and further information can be count by contacting  geography@abs.gov.au.
