The Australian Institute of Mine Surveyors (AIMS) 2018 conference has officially opened registrations for delegates and attendees.

The 2018 event will take place at the Ville Resort and Casino in Townsville, Queensland, on September 12-14.

CR Kennedy, Maptek, Survey Solutions, Fyfe and Geosight CMS are the major sponsors for this year’s event, and sessions will cover topics including latest advances and hands-on industry experience in UAV systems, GNSS, terrestrial scanning, along with site and supplier testimonials.

Organisers say that the AIMS 2018 conference is a great way for like-minded professionals to network and consolidate strong relationships developed over many years, while providing an opportunity for young professionals to mix with peers, and establish connections with more experienced mine surveyors — the ‘old dogs’ who may learn a few new tricks from the up-and-comers.

On that topic, Steven Bradbury, one of Australia’s more memorable Olympic gold medalists, will give a keynote presentation and MC the event. Dubbed ‘the luckiest gold medallist’, Bradbury won fans the world over for the honesty and humility he showed after his extraordinary win.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to join a fully guided bus tour of Magnetic Island, and get amongst the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef (without getting wet) at the Reef HQ Aquarium.

You can find further detail and register to attend at the AIMS website.
