Individuals who would like to participate in the 2025 Geospatial Council Mentoring Program, either as mentors or mentees, are being encouraged register their interest.

The 2025 Mentoring Program marks the eighth year in which experienced professionals are connected with emerging talent across the geospatial sector, in a structured and supportive way.

Seasoned industry experts eager to give back, and early-career professionals looking to learn and grow, are encouraged to get involved.

The program focuses on developing essential soft skills — such as leadership, communication, adaptability and work-life balance — alongside practical, real-world insights to help participants thrive in their careers.

Participation is free for Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA) members and for employees of GCA organisational members, and this year that free participation has also been opened up to members of Survey and Spatial New Zealand (S+SNZ).

Accepted mentors and mentees will receive access to the program handbook, topic cards, the Mentornity platform and online networking events.

Other key details of the Mentoring Program include:

  • It is open to students and professionals living in the Asia-Pacific region;
  • The duration of the Program is three months;
  • There is a 7.5-hour commitment.

Expressions of interest from both potential mentors and mentees close at 9:00am AEST on Monday, 12 May 2025.

Questions can be directed to mentoring@geospatialcouncil.org.au.

The 2025 program is sponsored by The Surveyors’ Trust, and thanks are due to the FIG Foundation for providing access to the Mentornity software.
