Call for abstracts: Victorian Spatial Showcase and eSummit

By on 7 October, 2020

Two major annual events on the Victorian spatial calendar are joining forces and going online this November.

The combined event will bring together government agencies, industry academics and community spatial enthusiasts, according to organisers by the Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).

The organisers are calling for abstract submissions for presentation at the event, by Monday October 12.

The theme of the 2020 combined event is ‘Spatially enabling the Sustainable Development Goals’.

The SDGs refer to the UN’s 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all UN Member States in 2015. The Agenda provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call to action by developed and developing countries across the globe.

‘This year, we’re going to tackle some of the world’s most complex problems – our 2020 theme is exploring how the spatial industry is enabling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through innovation,’ the organisers write.

‘During the eSummit, the Victorian spatial community will draw on its collective experience to identify opportunities and challenges for us all to achieve these goals.’

The event will be held on November 18 and 19 2020, from 9.00am-12.30pm.

Submit an abstract, or find out more and register for the event.
