Smart Cities Week Australia and New Zealand 2022 will bring together the who’s-who in smart cities, digital twins and future-of-place thought leadership in an energising, open dialogue on how to leverage technology to deliver better quality of life for citizens.
Smart Cities Week offers sessions designed to bring demand and supply side stakeholders together in a way that incubates business opportunities and incubates the smart cities investment pipeline.
This year, the event will be delivered in conjunction with Digital Twin Week, known as the premier platform for showcasing, exchanging and networking around all things Digital Twin in the built and natural environment. The event will offer a series of opportunities to connect and gain information and insights on Digital Twin activity, policy and practice from government and industry leaders.
Leading the line-up for the 2022 event is Platinum event sponsor, Amazon Web Services, who will offer attendees a look at AWS-powered twin cities, and how towns, regions and cities, can use cloud benefits, technology and support, to realise their local planning vision.

The Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) will convene the second United Nations World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) in Hyderabad, India from 10-14 October 2022.
Hosted by the Government of India through its Ministry of Science and Technology, the convening of the UNWGIC arises out of the mandate from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to the Committee of Experts to convene global forums to promote comprehensive dialogue on global geospatial information management with all relevant governments, international organisations and stakeholders.
With an overarching theme ‘Geo-Enabling the Global Village: No one should be left behind,’ the second UNWGIC will reflect the importance of integrated geospatial information to support sustainable development and the wellbeing of society, address environmental and climate challenges, embrace digital transformation and technological development, and catalyse vibrant economies.
The congress addresses the development and strengthening of integrated geospatial information management, its capacities and capabilities, and demonstrates the importance of international cooperation and coordination for building a human data and geography community, against the three pillars of sustainable development, for a shared future and a better world, leaving no one behind within an inclusive and equitable global society.
The UNWGIC will feature a high-level, plenary, special and parallel sessions. While the actual second UNWGIC program covers three days (11 – 13 October), the overall event will be a weeklong (10 – 14 October), and will include global and regional meetings, workshops and learning events, expert meetings and side events, including the eleventh plenary meeting of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP), as well as the annual meeting of the UN-GGIM Expanded Bureau.
The 2022 SSSI Queensland Regional Conference will be held on Friday, 14 October at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. It promises to once again be a fantastic opportunity to learn and connect with SSSI members and the broader surveying and spatial community.
The Queensland Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards dinner will also be held in conjunction with the conference, celebrating the outstanding work being undertaken across the region.

The Andy Thomas Space Foundation is looking forward to welcoming a global audience to the 14th Australian Space Forum, which will be held on Tuesday, 25 October 2022 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia.
Supported by the Australian Space Agency, the South Australian Space Industry Centre and SmartSat CRC, the Forum will provide an opportunity to stimulate ideas, share information about emerging technologies and network with influential space sector leaders and the broader community.
Participants can attend in-person, or virtually through the event’s global interactive platform.
Forum sessions will include international panels covering highly pertinent topics that shape our industry:
Earth Observation: The National Space Mission for Earth Observation is a major investment that will expand Australia’s capability in designing, manufacturing and operating space- and ground-based systems.
Optical Communications: A quantum leap in Australia’s secure and high-bandwidth communications to connect the world and beyond.
Foundation Services Rover: Exploring remote operations and autonomous systems by building on Australian expertise in the resources and mining sectors for the collection of lunar soil (regolith).
The 2022 SSSI Victorian Surveying & Spatial Summit and APSEA-V Dinner will take place on Thursday, 27 October 2022. It will be an opportunity for all Victorian surveying and spatial professionals to come together to learn, share and connect.
The event will feature an array of speakers, along with plenty of networking opportunities and the chance to see the latest products and services from local suppliers.

The 2022 SSSI NSW Regional Conference will be held on Thursday 10 November and Friday 11 November 2022 at the Novotel Sydney Central. The theme will be ‘Connections’.
This regular event is an opportunity to learn from and connect with other SSSI members and the broader geospatial community.
The first day will comprise the main conference, with speakers presenting on various topics, followed by the NSW & ACT Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards dinner in the evening.
The second day will be a NSW Spatial Digital Twin workshop, an interactive session that will get ‘under the bonnet,’ looking at data sharing, use cases and more.
The Call for Abstracts will close at midday on Monday, 26 September 2022. Abstract proposals can be submitted online at https://lnkd.in/ek4xS6Bu.

The World of Drones and Robotics Congress 2022 is scheduled to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Similar to 2021, it will be held in a hybrid format — in-person and online.
Presented by the Space Industry Association of Australia, the Southern Space Symposium brings together space industry experts and decision-makers from across Australia.
This year’s Symposium will connect the space industry together with government and parliament for two days to help shape the future agenda of Australian space’s aspirations.
Participants will include federal government departments and agencies, international agencies and missions, defence and space prime contractors, listed space companies, academic and research organisations, small and medium enterprises, space start-ups and individual space professionals.
Australia’s first dedicated Micromobility Conference and Expo will give delegates the opportunity to learn about best practices from international and Australian experts.
After hearing from inspirational keynote speakers, the Micromobility Conference will break into delegates’ choice of two themes on each of its two days.
Delegates will also be able to see best practice examples via facilities tours to be hosted by expert practitioners from the City of Sydney, with e-bikes and helmets provided. They’ll also be able to visit the Micromobility Expo, to be run concurrently at Royal Randwick Racecourse, which will include a huge range of exhibits plus safe, traffic free test riding opportunities.
The Micromobility Conference will be a great opportunity to make new contacts, develop your professional skills, to learn about both the bigger picture trends and latest technical information and to simply be inspired and encouraged.
