The Future of Place Summit aims to be a day filled with critical discussion, knowledge sharing and networking around the intersection of people, place technology and data.
The event will focus on four themes:
- Designing for digital lifestyles — A new human-centred planning approach
- From precinct plans to development reality — The evolving digital and data DNA of urban growth
- Data-inspired discussions — Tapping into the real voice of the community
- Streets reimagined — The digital backbone for better experiences

The Australian Association for Unmanned Systems’ ‘RPAS in Australian Skies 2022’ conference aims to continue discussion on the safe integration of RPAS into Australian airspace. It is supported by key government and industry participants and has established itself as a landmark event in the Australian RPAS calendar.
The 2022 themes will cover:
- Policy and Regulatory updates from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, CASA, AirServices Australia and the Australian Defence Force relating to the use of emerging aviation technology in Australia.
- UAS Traffic Management (UTM), low level airspace, integrated airspace systems challenges and opportunities.
- Industry challenges and perspectives
- Continuing development of a professional and safe industry.
- ATSB RPAS data and trends
- Emerging technology and innovative solutions enabling integration or RPAS into Australian airspace.
- Future infrastructure requirements to enable drone delivery and advanced air mobility (AAM).
- Emerging RPAS and AAM applications – benefits, viability and social acceptance.
The conference will be a hybrid event incorporating face to face (live) and online (virtual) choices for participants. It will also include the AAUS Gala Dinner featuring the AAUS Industry Awards.
The International Cartographic Association (ICA) Commission on Atlases, the ICA Commission on Map Design, the Joint ICA-IGU Commission on Toponymy, the National Geographic Institute of Spain (IGN) and the Spanish Society for Cartography, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (SECFT) will jointly host a conference on atlases, toponymy and map design in Madrid.
During six sessions of four presentations each, questions concerning evolving dissemination concepts and techniques for atlases, recent development and examples of national atlases as well as important map design and toponomastic issues in atlas production will be discussed.
The theme of the event will be ‘Atlases in time’. Presentations will be held in a 20-minute format of 15 minutes presenting and 5 minutes discussion.
Smart Cities Week Australia and New Zealand 2022 will bring together the who’s-who in smart cities, digital twins and future-of-place thought leadership in an energising, open dialogue on how to leverage technology to deliver better quality of life for citizens.
Smart Cities Week offers sessions designed to bring demand and supply side stakeholders together in a way that incubates business opportunities and incubates the smart cities investment pipeline.
This year, the event will be delivered in conjunction with Digital Twin Week, known as the premier platform for showcasing, exchanging and networking around all things Digital Twin in the built and natural environment. The event will offer a series of opportunities to connect and gain information and insights on Digital Twin activity, policy and practice from government and industry leaders.
Leading the line-up for the 2022 event is Platinum event sponsor, Amazon Web Services, who will offer attendees a look at AWS-powered twin cities, and how towns, regions and cities, can use cloud benefits, technology and support, to realise their local planning vision.

The 2023 NSW Geospatial Conference and Awards Dinner will take place on Thursday, 24 August at the PARKROYAL Parramatta hotel and convention venue.
The conference will be an opportunity for professionals from all corners of the geospatial world to come together and hear about recent innovative projects, the latest research and current activities from across the NSW geospatial community. It will also be a great chance to network and learn about all the latest technology from multiple exhibitors.
