Sydney-based startup Arlula has announced the open beta phase of their satellite imagery API.
Launching in May with their online marketplace for Earth observation data, the startup has now opened the beta program for its API, through which users can access an archive of imagery dating back to 1970.
The imagery database is currently supplied by 17 satellites, both private and public, but the company says that this will grow in the near future as new suppliers are added.
In 2017, Arlula won the Airbus New Space and Innovation competition at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Adelaide.
In 2018, the company received support from Austrade’s landing pad program, which aims to help Australian startups and SMEs thrive in international innovation centres.
Arlula CEO Sebastian Chaoui said: “At Arlula we believe that by standardising access to satellite data we will encourage a new generation of Earth observation applications and opportunities.”
The beta program opens in early September and will be open to a limited number of beta developers.
