Francesca Robb, a final year Bachelor of Surveying (Hons) student at Otago University, has been awarded the inaugural Kairūri Community Trust (KCT) Stirling Scholarship.

The scholarship includes a NZ$2,500 cash prize plus support to attend the upcoming Survey and Spatial NZ conference being held in Rotorua in August.

At the conference, Robb will have the opportunity to share her submission, titled ‘The Challenges for Early Year Survey Graduate in a Rapidly Evolving Market’.

Jayne Perrin, KCT Trustee, said the trustees were “thrilled by the number of applications received” for the scholarship, and with “the variety of lines of study being undertaken by the candidates and the overall quality of responses”.

The Stirling Scholarship has been made possible by the Stirling family through a generous donation from the Ian and Margaret Stirling Fund in 2021.

The Fund provides scholarships and grants to support individuals seeking careers or further education in the surveying and spatial sectors, especially those who have financial or other barriers to pursuing tertiary education.
