New Earth Observation Australia Awards

Earth Observation Australia has announced the inaugural Earth Observation Australia Awards, which aim to highlight and celebrate the individuals and organisations that are building the Australian Earth observation community and its capabilities.

Nominations are now open for the following three awards.

The first is for a Significant Contribution to the Development of the Australian Earth Observation Community and its Capabilities.

This honour will be awarded to an individual who has made significant and sustained contribution to activities that have developed the Australian EO community and/or its capabilities. This contribution may be in any aspect of Earth observation such as organisation leadership, research activities, education and so on.

The second award is for Early-Career Contribution to the Development of the Australian Earth Observation Community and its Capabilities.

This awarded will be given to an individual who has worked in Earth observation for five years or less, and who has made contributions that have developed (or have a significant potential to produce activities that will develop) the Australian Earth observation community and/or its capabilities… as well as showing significant potential for future excellence and leadership.

The winner of this award will be invited to become an Earth Observation Australia ‘Earth Observation Ambassador’ for a period of 12 months.

The final award is for Innovation in Earth Observation Made by a Group, Company or Organisation.

This one will be awarded for innovation in Earth observation by a group, company or organisation for a project, product, initiative or activity conducted within the past two years that has made a significant contribution to the Australian Earth observation community and/or its capabilities.

Recipients will be announced at the Advancing Earth Observation Forum, 22 to 25 August 2022.

Nominations close Monday 20 June 2022, 5:00pm AEST.
