The Western Australian Government has launched new data standards to improve data sharing and common reporting across the sector.

Developed in collaboration with 15 government agencies and published by the Office of Digital Government, the standards will ensure consistency of collection and organisation of data and metadata structures.

The standards will change the way data collection works across the WA public sector by:

  • improving the quality and consistency of information collected and shared between Government agencies
  • reducing redundancy during development of Government services and data collections
  • improving data reusability between agencies
  • strengthening interagency and inter-jurisdictional benchmarking and comparability.

The project links to the Digital Strategy for the Western Australian Government 2021–25, through supporting a culture of data sharing, and building data analytics capabilities to underpin policy development and targeted service delivery.

The standards and supporting information are available at https://www.wa.gov.au.
