CRCSI Workshops on Sustainable Development

By on 15 June, 2010
The Co-operative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) is hosting a series of urban development workshops from 17 to 24 June to help shape the organisation’s research activities. The events, which are open to the public, will focus on spatial tools for urban regeneration in regards to greyfield development.

Greyfields – ageing, declining middle suburbs – are possible sites for urban redevelopment because they provide potential locations for growing populations. The CRCSI is looking at spatially-focused research and technologies as models for regenerating these areas, especially in regards to sustainability.

Interested parties are encouraged to attend the workshops and participate in discussions about how redevelopment of these under-utilised or ageing areas can contribute to the sustainable development of Australian cities. Peter Newman of Curtin University, and Peter Newton of Swinburne University of Technology will be running the workshops.

The workshops will be held on 17 June in Perth; 21 June in Adelaide; 22 June in Melbourne; 23 June in Sydney and 24 June in Brisbane.

Visit the CRCSI website for more information and to register.
