Drone delivery innovators Flirtey claim to have completed the first autonomous drone delivery ever to take place in Silicon Valley. The delivery was to a group of spectators gathered at The Rosewood hotel in Menlo Park, and demonstrated Flirtey’s development of a safe and reliable drone delivery system capable of operating in complex urban environments.
The event took place during Menlo Ventures’ 40th annual meeting and the package dropped off a package that contained a ‘Save the Date’ invitation to Flirtey’s 100 millionth drone delivery and a gift of a pair of socks.

Flirtey began operations in Australia in 2013 and have since then conducted the first FAA-approved drone delivery on U.S. soil, the first ever UAV pizza delivery, as well as the first fully autonomous drone delivery from a store to a home in partnership with 7-Eleven.
This latest delivery takes advantage of the recent United States legislation changes surrounding RPAS deliveries to make a delivery in San Francisco’s Silicon Valley, arguably the global capital of new technology.
Indeed, Flirtey have been busy establishing themselves as the most recognisable name in drone delivery as a new industry builds up around them as part of the larger ‘last-mile logistics’ movement spurred on by the growth in e-commerce.
That will be the topic of the day at the upcoming Home Delivery Asia Pacific conference to be held in Melbourne later this month.
Home Delivery Asia Pacific is a brand new event that will take place in Melbourne on 16 November at the Automotive Centre of Excellence. The conference aims to address issues faced in realising this new business ecosystem by considering the autonomous transport options, payment methods and new IT technologies and apps that are rapidly becoming disruptors and innovators in the last mile of the supply chain.
