Position Issue 81 – February/March

Positon’s first issue of 2016 will have a focus on all things data, 3D visualisations, BIM and IoT, encompassing both surveying and spatial industries.

3D data capture – including LiDAR, laser scanning, remote sensing and photo reality capture – is allowing more data than ever to be utilised in professional applications, with unprecedented resolution, accuracy and efficiency.

Once this rich data is acquired, the modern expectation is to use technologies to present information in the most effective possible manner. 3D visualisation, augmented reality, cloud computing and BIM (Building Information Modelling) now make it possible to build a whole mine, port or even city in the virtual world and examine in minute detail such issues as materials, sun shadows, environmental impact, and put it out to public consultation, without even moving a stone.

Urban planning and infrastructure development have been transformed from informed guesswork to a precise science, aided by a range of sophisticated tools and advanced software solutions. Decision makers at every level of government and commerce can now access service providers, information technology and advanced equipment from a large number of sources.

We’ll also take a look at the issues surrounding Big Data, IoT (The Internet of Things), IoE (the Internet of Everything) including processing requirements, methods to gain the best insight, and those surrounding availability and privacy.

If your business supplies any related equipment, software and/or services, Position 81 will be your chance to reach the decision makers who select and specify the vendors and their products/services. Don’t miss out! Contact Troy Hale today! thale@intermedia.com.au
