Security products provider XTEK, has entered into an agreement with the Australian Space Agency for the creation of lightweight composite material products for space applications.
XTEK Managing Director Philippe Odouard said the agreement would help develop space-related sectors leveraging XTEK’s XTclave processing technologies that generate sophisticated composite products with distinctive benefits for implementation in space.
“This statement represents a formal relationship with the Australian space industry, which validates the broader application of our novel XTclave technology. It also provides us access to a potential significant market in which we can continue developing and commercialising our advanced composite solutions,” he said.
XTEK plans to hire 45 new engineers, technicians and machinists over the next three to five years to create capacity for design and experimentation through several existing space application initiatives, including the creation of a new spacecraft and launcher system.
Australian Space Agency Head Dr. Megan Clark said that the statement from a national manufacturing organisation will ‘ enhance Australia’s space industry’s capabilities and competitiveness. ‘
“This Statement of Intent will assist in the development of space-related industries as the Australian Space Agency aims to grow the local space sector from $3.9 billion to $12 billion over the next ten years, and create up to 20,000 new space jobs,” she said.
