Following the completion of a draft Wingham Floodplain Risk Management Plan, Greater Taree City Council will hold a public meeting at Wingham Town Hall from 2pm on Wednesday 16 February to gather final community input.
Engineering Consultants Worley Parsons have compiled the draft Wingham Floodplain Risk Management Plan in collaboration and with assistance from the Greater Taree community and Council’s Floodplain Management Committee.
The meeting on 16 February will provide an opportunity for the points raised during the previous community consultation process/public exhibition phase to be further discussed.
The council's Will Barr told the ABC there is a range of issues to discuss.
"They've spoken about some of the flood mapping and the council regulations which relate to that mapping," he said.
"It's always good to get community involved in these things you can get a better result with a plan that's suitable for the area."
Mr Barr says the plan identifies the areas in greatest need of flood protection.
"In the Risk Management Plan, [the engineering consultants] rate different areas on the floodplain based on the study they carried out, which included hydraulic modelling," he said.
