Sydney residents get map of the future

By on 5 October, 2010

A new interactive website allows Western Sydney residents to see potential changes to their region on a map.

The site shows possible future infrastructure developments as suggested by independent inquiries, industry groups, local councils, and members of the community.

These include housing, transport and utility projects, as well as potential areas of new employment.

The map was built by the Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC), which represents 10 local councils in Western Sydney.

In a statement on their Western Sydney 2030 website, the councils said they hope to give people more of a say in the future of their region.

“That's why Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) has created this website to allow the people who live in Western Sydney to put forward a vision for how Western Sydney should be in 2030,” it says.

“Through this web site we are asking people to tell us of their hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future. Our expert panel will turn that information into an integrated picture of what life could be like in Western Sydney.”
