The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) has announced the appointment of its new President, Mr Bernard O’Sullivan, who has now replaced Professor John Trinder who served in the role for the last two years.
O’Sullivan has been Chair of the SSSI Engineering and Mining Surveying Commission since 2011 and has been a SSSI director since 2013 and officially stepped into the role of President at the SSSI AGM held in Sydney on 23rd October 2015.
O’Sullivan works in private practice as general manager of Western Australian surveying firm Survey Results, and also as general manager of small scale civil construction company, BOS Civil.
In his opening presidential message, O’Sullivan indicated what new directions he hopes to take SSSI: “I hope to bring a younger and energetic feel to the Institute,” he said. “I will continue pushing for recognition of SSSI Certifications as benchmarks for industry and for professionals to be measured against. I also hope to continue with strong education initiatives and promotion such as Destination Spatial and Life Without Limits.”
“I look forward to serving you all this year as President, and am honoured to have the role. I hope to get the opportunity to meet a lot of you at the various events around the country. I’m especially looking forward to Locate16 in Melbourne next year and maybe will see you there.”
