Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) Space Australia has announced the appointment of the company’s new managing director, Matthew Creamer.

“Matt will also be the new Business Development Director of our Ground Segment activities in the APAC region,” said Fredrik Gisle, Head of SSC Satellite Management Services in the APAC region.

“He is based in Adelaide and brings 20 years of valuable experience in from the ICT, telecommunications and data centre industries.”

SSC has had a presence in Australia for 13 years, and says it is committed to doubling its local workforce.

“I am really excited to join SSC in such an expansive phase,” said Creamer. “I look forward to continue growing the company’s ground communication support to the space industry in the APAC region, and of course develop SSC’s presence and activities in Australia.”

SSC Space Australia operates and maintains the Western Australia Space Centre (WASC), located 400 kilometres northwest of Perth. The station is remotely controlled from the SSC Network Management Centres in Kiruna, Sweden and Horsham, USA.

The site has four full-motion antennae (S, X and Ku-Band) with capabilities to support satellites, launchers and lunar missions with telemetry, tracking and command, and data reception services.

The WASC will soon be boosted with the addition of a new satellite tracking station for space situational awareness missions.
