Spatial infrastructure grants up for grabs

By on 26 October, 2010

Australian organisations developing spatial data infrastructure or earth observations systems still have time to apply for development grants from the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association.

The association is asking for application for grants of US$2500 to be lodged by 31st October.

It aims to develop a global infrastructure that will allow users to access spatial data at a variety of scales from multiple sources that ultimately will appear seamless to all users.

The GSDI Association’s multinational board includes representatives from all continents including Asia-Pacific.

The funds come from the US Federal Geographic Data Committee and the GISCorps of The Urban and Regional Infrastructure Systems Association (URISA), and are available to any body internationally that is helping achieve the GSDI Association’s goals.

Grants can be awarded to spatial data infrastructure coordinating bodies such as councils and committees and GIS user groups, but the GSDI Association asks that one institution take responsibility for receiving the funds.

Proposals must be submitted digitally to grants@gsdi.org in English and should be preferably two pages in length but no more than five pages or 2500 words.

For more information go to the Association's website.
