RICS Report

The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors released the report, Our Changing World: Let’s be ready, examines how global social and economic changes will require new skills, business models and responses to developing technologies over the next 15 years to 2030.

At the report’s launch in Los Angeles, major drivers and trends were debated by industry leaders at the RICS industry Summit. Contributors include Altus Group CEO Robert Courteau and CEO of Capright, Jay Marling, after its launch with director of USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, Richard Green.

RICS have identified the following six areas requiring attention:

  1. Helping our sector win the war for talent
  2. Having ethics at the heart of everything we do
  3. Creating successful and sustainable future cities
  4. Embracing technology and big data
  5. Helping the surveying profession take new opportunities
  6. Developing strong leadership

“The thing that has struck me during this work is the fast pace of change that we are seeing,” said RICS director of strategy Dan Cook. “With BIM, big data, and new technology like the Internet of Things and 3D printing, standing still is not an option. Our sector will need to change to embrace roles and new skills not yet imagined today.”
