Nominations are now open for the 2024 Sol Katz Award for Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial (FOSS4G).
Organised by the Open Source Geospatial Foundation, the award is for individuals who have demonstrated leadership in the FOSS4G community and contributed through their activities to advance open-source ideals in the geospatial realm.
The award is named for the late Solomon ‘Sol’ Katz, a pioneer of FOSS4G who contributed a large body of work in the form of applications, format specifications and utilities while working at the US Bureau of Land Management.
Nominations should be sent to solkatzaward@lists.osgeo.org. The deadline is end-of-day (all time zones) on 4 October, and the winner will be announced during the FOSS4G 2024 conference in Belém, Brazil, in December 2024.
