Dr Anna de Raadt has been appointed director of the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) in New Zealand. Responsible for coordinating and building CRCSI activity in New Zealand, the role is pivotal to research collaboration and generation of benefits across the Tasman. The position is based in Land Information New Zealand, a key partner in the CRCSI, and has a national mandate.

Anna comes to the CRCSI from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment in New Zealand, where she was senior sector manager for manufacturing and resources, science investments.

“We are delighted to welcome Anna to the CRCSI executive team,” said Peter Woodgate, CRCSI chief executive officer. “She brings with her a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience across government, research and industry sectors. This powerful combination can only add impetus to the already valuable contributions made by New Zealand within the CRCSI.”

“She recently engaged with those involved in the Hauraki Gulf Marine Spatial Plan, ‘Sea Change’, and has held previous roles facilitating commercialisation and demand driven research.

“We are fortunate that Anna will be starting in the position in time to attend the three day annual CRCSI Conference which this year is being held in NZ for the first time. This gives her a chance to meet delegates from the CRCSI family from across Australia and New Zealand.” The conference venue is the University of Canterbury, a core research partner in the CRCSI.

Dr de Raadt has an MBA and a PhD in organic chemistry from Victoria University and takes over from Mary Sue Severn.

“I’d like to thank Mary Sue Severn for her contributions to the CRCSI and for building significant awareness and support for the NZ CRCSI node,” said Peter Woodgate.
